|
Released in late 1999, the Termatrac T1r was the latest and greatest technological invention to hit pest management since the moisture meter, demonstrated by winning an Australian Design Award in 2000. Equipped with the first generation of the Termatrac Termite Detection Radar, this basic but aesthetically pleasing device gained much acclaim from its home market in Australia. Pest control professionals now had a device made especially for them to carry out non-intrusive termite control.
Well over a thousand pest control operators in Australia adopted the device to their business in the ten years it has been on the market, with at least five hundred more also using the device in countries such as the United States, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, The Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Spain and France.
Futuristic styling helped the product gain acceptance, but it was the subtle features that really sold the product. This included the automatic switch to the scanning mode when the horn was taken from the cradle, and the automatic turn-off function if the unit was left un-attended for a long period of time. Only now is this kind of technology common place in consumer electronics; back then it was ground breaking.
Finally after a full decade of service, the T1r is still in service despite the improved Termatrac T3i being introduced. The T3i utilizes a second generation Termite Detection Radar, providing better reliability, accuracy and power through new technology, coupled with a Moisture Sensor and Remote Thermal Sensor with Laser Guide. |
"Without the Termatrac termite radar we would have frequently missed finding termites during inspections. Also it is invaluable in pinpointing the spot to drill or split open timber and plasterboard prior to dusting treatments."
