The Termatrac T3i incorporates a Moisture Sensor and a Remote Thermal Sensor with Laser Guide to enable the operator to easily detect Termite Risk Areas. Once a Termite Risk Area is identified, a Termite Detection Radar built into the device is then used to detect a confirm actual presence of termites and track the locations of nests, leads, and entry points.
Nearly all pests, termites and other common wood destroying organisms need moisture and high humidity to survive and multiply, thus they will seek such locations to inhabit. The Moisture Sensor function built into the Termatrac T3i enables the operator to easily identify areas of excess moisture as a possible risk area for termites. All the operator needs to do is scan the surface area (such as a wall) with the T3i, which will present a moisture reading on the PDA device enabling the identification of Termite Risk Areas.
Additionally, congregations of termites will generate heat and humidity. The Remote Thermal Sensor with Laser Guide built into the T3i hand held unit detects termite risk areas by identifying areas of increased heat and humidity in building structures. The operator just stands back and scans the building structure by pointing the hand-held T3i unit at the relevant building structures, of which the temperature readings on the PDA device will allow the operator to determine high risk areas.
Upon identifying a termite risk area using the Moisture Sensor and/or Thermal Sensor, the operator then presses one button on the T3i to switch over to Radar mode. The operator places the T3i unit against the suspect surface area for the Termite Detection Radar to detect the movement of termites. A bar graph on the PDA will display the detection and activity level of any termites present.
Once a positive reading with the Termite Detection Radar has been established, termite activity can be tracked to locate entry points and nests. The tracking procedure on the Termatrac Termite Detection Radar shows the Technician the extent of the activity and the direction from which the termites travelled to get a particular point. Not only will this method enable the trained Technician to locate internal termite nests, the trained operator will be able to follow termite leads to locate the entry point of termite infestation. The Technician will then be well on the way to establishing where the main nest is outside the building.
